"Baba's Trunk"
"Baba's Trunk" was created to commemorate over 75 years of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada and their cultural and spiritual support in our community. On arrival to Canada pioneer women had but a few personal items tucked into the family trunk - an icon or cross, their best embroidered blouse, a kylym, possibly a violin, a book and a few bags of seed. These were the basics that would help them create a strong family nucleus and vibrant community supported by a rich cultural and spiritual base.
